About Indiana SR22 & SR50 Insurance
Who Runs This Site
IndianaSR50andSR22.com was founded by Charles, an Indiana resident who became deeply familiar with the SR22 and SR50 process after going through the process firsthand. After seeing how much misinformation existed online — and how difficult it was to find Indiana-specific answers without being funneled into a sales funnel — this site was built as a genuinely independent resource.
Every guide on this site is written and reviewed specifically for Indiana drivers. We do not publish generic national content and relabel it for Indiana. We focus exclusively on Indiana BMV rules, Indiana court requirements, Indiana-specific fee schedules, and insurance providers licensed to operate in the state.
How We Research and Maintain Our Guides
Our content is built from three primary sources:
- Official Indiana Code and BMV publications. SR22 and SR50 requirements are set by Indiana statute (primarily IC 9-25) and administered by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. We reference official BMV documentation directly, not third-party summaries.
- Insurance carrier research. Rate estimates, filing procedures, and company reviews are based on direct research into insurers licensed to write SR22 policies in Indiana, including publicly available rate filings and direct-quote testing.
- Reader questions and real-world cases. Many of the specific scenarios we cover — "Can I get SR22 without a car?", "What happens if I move to another state?" — came directly from Indiana drivers who contacted us with situations not covered elsewhere.
We review and update our guides whenever the Indiana BMV changes its fee schedules, requirements, or processes. The last site-wide review was completed in May 2026.
What This Site Is — and Is Not
We are an independent information resource. We are not a licensed insurance agency, we do not sell insurance policies, and we do not have a financial relationship with any specific insurer that influences our editorial content.
When you see a quote-comparison link on this site, clicking it will connect you with a licensed insurance provider or marketplace. We may receive a small referral fee if you purchase a policy through one of those links. This does not influence which companies we recommend or how we rank them — we cover providers based on their actual track record with Indiana SR22 filings.
Always verify current requirements directly with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles before making decisions about your license reinstatement. BMV rules can change, and your specific situation may have circumstances that a general guide cannot account for.
